To cram a classic Broadway musical into a 200-seat house requires considerable ingenuity, and I was especially impressed by the choreography of Ilyse Robbins, whose production numbers, especially “Too Darn Hot” and “Always True to You in My Fashion” (the second of which shows off the excellent dancing of Michele A. DeLuca to sumptuous effect), are all the more exciting for being performed in the lap of the audience.
Choreographer Ilyse Robbins works her magic and creatively moves a lot of people around the small thrust stage. “Too Darn Hot” features almost the entire company on the boards simultaneously, performing Robbins’ steps crisply and with great energy.
Ilyse Robbins’s choreography evokes Garland’s original work without copying it gesture for gesture.
So, my writing time seems to get sucked up by that phenomenon called Facebook. Yikes. Let’s see… I left off at Follies. It was a wonderful experience. I got to work with almost every Diva in Boston. I’ll post some of the lovely reviews.
